At the "entrance" of southern Pelion stands the historic village with its beautiful square, crowned by Pelion mansions and houses with flowery courtyards. The Girls' School where the great poet Kostas Varnalis taught, the church of the Holy Apostles with the ornate marble bell tower and the Monastery of St. Nicholas of Paos (3 km southwest) are the main attractions. For swimming, there are the beaches of Paou and Mikri Paou, Lefokastro, Horto and Kalamos in Pagasitikos, as well as Potistika, Melani and Paltsi in the Aegean.
