a day trip to beautiful town of Nafplio, 134km drive from Camelia Pireas. Magnificent view of the old Town from Palamidi castle. Taste the ice cream or enjoy a meal, on the ord town Square, or down the harbour

That this historic town was saved from following the fate of modern-day Athens, is due to the fact that Nafplio only served as the capital of the nascent Greek State for 4 short years. This is not just a most elegant town, it is a place where the monuments left behind by subsequent eras and different civilizations co-exist in remarkable harmony

Just about one hour and a half away by car from Athens, a lovely town split in two. One half is the modern town of Nafplio, and the other half the old town. Really worth renting a car for a days out to explore one of our favourite places outside Athens.
