This is a great place to start in the refuge. The staff have maps to help guide you on the different drives available. There are bathrooms, giftshop and a short nature walk available. Well worth a stop. Want a guide? I'm pretty darn good at spotting alligators and birds and I know my way around. I can fit three people in my car and will be happy to be your tour guide for a donation of $40.00 for the trip. It will take about two and half hours. Let me know! If I'm available I'm all yours!

This national wildlife refuge surrounds the kennedy space center. Since the area is huge, it is recommended you drive to the visitor's center to get some information and maps. There is a hiking loop trail that is not far from the visitor's center. The several mile driving circle that will allow you to view Florida wildlife from the safety and comfort of you vehicle. You will see all kinds of birds, including osprey and bald eagles, brown and white pelicans, Spoonbills and ibis (some may be pink!), ducks and coots, small songbirds native to the area and migratory birds, sandhill cranes and wood storks, and Egrets and Herons of all types. If you have a sharp eye, you'll see alligators!
