Palm Springs may have lost Jose Garces's tapas joint Tinto last year, but you can still get an excellent fix of Spanish fare at this Rancho Mirage restaurant, which also happens to be home to some of the area's best outdoor dining thanks to its starry-skied courtyard. The tapas bar does bites like garlic shrimp, fried chickpeas, and smoked chorizo, while the dinner menu offers larger plates of seafood paella and a perfectly charred octopus over a chickpea puree. With a few days notice, the chef can prepare a whole-roasted suckling pig dinner for six or more.

Gorgeous paella and other great Spanish dishes. This restaurant is located in Rancho Mirage so plan at least a 30 minute drive.
