Fryingpan Firetower is a personal favorite for sunset. It can get a bit busy but is an easy hike off the parkway up a gravel road to an amazing view.

great views. Tower may not be open, but you can still see Mt. Pisgah. Short hike, but straight up.

Easy short hike off the Parkway not far from town (30 minutes). Only so many people can go up at one time so be aware when parking and maybe choose a weekday or early hours to go. Get detailed directions to this hike at www.romanticasheville.com NOTE * Can be inaccessible in winter if Parkway is closed up high for ice in tunnels

Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower in Pisgah National Forest is the tallest fire tower in North Carolina. From here, you’ll find beautiful and expansive panoramic views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. Located in Transylvania County and just 22 miles from Asheville, Fryingpan Tower is a popular spot. It’s also just off the Blue Ridge Parkway (MP 409.6) and easily reachable via a short, gently uphill hike.
