Perast is an old town in the Bay of Kotor, situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor. Despite Perast being tiny and only having one main road it is home to 16 historic churches, one of them being St. Nicholas’ Church, in which you can climb the 55m bell tower for impressive views over the bay. Near Perast there are two islets: St.George and Our Lady of the Rocks. Altough St. George is a private island in the possession of the local Catholic Church, where the Montenegrin clergymen stay, Our Lady of the Rocks is open for tourist visitations, and is particularly interesting given that it is the only artificially-built island in the Adriatic. I would recommend jumping on a water taxi and visiting Our lady of the Rocks, which has a pretty blue-domed church and an adjoining museum with artifacts dating back to the Bronze Age.

A small but incredibly charming historic town-museum. Simply unmissable. Wherever you look you want to take a bunch of photos. From there by regular boat trips you can visit a 2 little islands in front with their own churches and museums.
Perast is a nice short trip close to Bijela to explore the area a bit and go for a nice restaurant. It’s small but very cute and recommended.

Looking like a chunk of Venice that has floated down the Adriatic and anchored itself onto the Bay of Kotor, Perast (Пераст) hums with melancholy memories of the days when it was rich and powerful. Despite having only one main street, this tiny town boasts 16 churches and 17 formerly grand palazzi. While some are just enigmatic ruins sprouting bougainvillea and wild fig, others are caught up in the whirlwind of renovation that has hit the town.
