Historic walking track with great views on a fine day - allow 1 hr return to the base of the Gondola or a bit longer if continuing on to Lyttelton . You can access the start by the #28 bus or return to your car from Lyttelton by the same bus.

Duration of walk: 4.8km track, 2 hour return. Start location: Either start on the city side from the Bridle Path car park, just below the Christchurch Gondola or Lyttelton side from Bridle Path road. If you are quite fit and looking for a challenging walk that is quite steep instead of driving through the tunnel you can walk up and over the bridle path walkway. This is where the first four ships came into port in 1850s and families walked over wearing their Victorian attire and carrying all their belongings with no idea what to expect.
