In Vila Nova de Gaia there are more than 50 port wine cellars. These cellars are at the top of the places to visit in Porto due to their historical importance and beyond. If the wine is named after the city, the vineyards are located 100 km away, in the Douro valley. Then it is transported to Porto to be aged and sold.
